Super Visa

The Canadian Government on December 1, 2011, introduced a new type of visa known as the Super Visa that enables parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens / permanent residents to visit their family in Canada for up to two years without the need to renew their status. This move was made to support a healthy family life for Canadian citizens with families outside of Canada.

You must first establish your relationship to a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in order to qualify for the parent and grandparent super visa. Along with this, there must be documented confirmation that your son or grandchild satisfies a minimum income requirement and has the means to cover your costs, including but not limited to travel, lodging, and meals.

The remaining steps are similar to those for visitor visas. The fact that you must also obtain private medical insurance from a Canadian insurance provider with a minimum 1-year validity and a coverage amount of at least $100,000 CAD is notable, though.

The processing of your application could take up to 9–10 days, during which time a visa officer will determine if an interview with you is required. If an interview is necessary, you will be given notice of the day, time, and location. Your passport and supporting documentation will be returned to you with or without your visa if or when your application is accepted. The conclusion depends only on the embassy's discretion and the quality of your file. We can advise you on how to submit your application effectively to increase your chances of being accepted.
