The spouse of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident has the option to enter Canada with sponsorship thanks to the Spousal visa. The spouse must be wed to their sponsor in a same-sex or opposite-sex union that is recognised as legal under both Canadian law and the legislation of the nation where the union took place. They must also demonstrate a sincere connection and a desire to coexist. The spouse and any dependent children have the right to live, work, and study in Canada for an unlimited period of time once they are granted permanent resident status.
At the time the application was submitted, the sponsor and applicant had to be together or married for at least two years. If not, a period of conditional permanent residence will apply to them. The conditional permanent residence stipulates that the couple must be together for a minimum of two years following the day they were granted permanent residency. This provision went into effect on October 25, 2012, in an effort to deter fictitious unions that are performed in order to circumvent Canadian immigration laws.
You must have been a Canadian citizen or permanent resident for more than five years in order to serve as a sponsor. A spotless record is also required. Any felony conviction on your record automatically disqualifies you from applying. In addition, you must affirm in writing that you will assist your spouse financially for at least three years after the day they become a permanent resident. Along with your spouse, you must also provide financial assurance for a dependent child for a period of ten years, or until the child turns 25, whichever comes first.
The process is much the same for visa applicants as it is for other visa kinds. We will walk you through the entire application process, including the standard police verification, medical certification, and interview steps, as well as filling out all necessary paperwork and completing all necessary formalities.
